Legislative
- Successfully worked with the Legislature to pass a law authorizing Veterans Treatment Court throughout Florida
- Successfully worked with the Legislature to designate Okaloosa County as a pilot site for a Mental Health Diversion Program and worked with state and county partners to fund and create the Okaloosa County Mental Health Pre-Trial Diversion Program
Military
- Acquired a Huey helicopter for display at the Destin/Fort Walton Beach Airport to honor Viet Nam veterans including a local Medal of Honor recipient and his son
- Acquired the ship’s bell from the WWII Liberty Ship, USS Okaloosa, on display at the Destin/Fort Walton Beach Airport to honor local WWII veterans and their families
Judicial
- Established Okaloosa Veterans Treatment Court to leverage VA resources, improve public safety, save county money, increase freedom and serve veterans and their families
- Worked with the VA to bring a VA Readjustment Counseling Center (Vet Center) to Okaloosa County to serve local veterans and their families while increasing Federal employment in the county
- Initiated local community-based Homeless Veterans “Stand Down”
- Originated “Purple Heart Scholarship” at Northwest Florida State College
